“When I created "Wild Arabesque", I started with no plan, it was a completely improvised. The black swirling forms emerged almost like wild script or graffiti, looping across the paper as if written by someone else.

 

After many layers of paint and ink, the palette began to radiate heat and motion—molten oranges and ember-like reds mixed with smoky blacks, gave the composition its sense of movement and urgency. I added flecks, fluffy swirls and tiny dots of white, yellow and pink, like flashes of light breaking through clouds. The tiny, scattered orbs—reminiscent of bioluminescent organisms—added a touch of the surreal and the otherworldly.

 

It has some of Art Nouveau’s curving elegance, but the energy behind the strokes are a lot less refined, more urgent. In the end, the piece reminded me of a dancing monkey, but of course, monkey or not, that is up for each viewer’s interpretation.”
