“Big Red Fish” is a mixed-media view into a cheeky and surreal aquatic world. Originally painted with many layers of high-flow acrylics, calligraphy ink, UV ink, and white pen & ink on paper. 

This oversized, rather self-conscious, crimson fish lumbers through a dark sea of tangled mystery. Its constellation-dotted body glows with quiet authority, while a mouthful of prominent, slightly excessive teeth gives it an ominous presence.

 

The sea, saturated in deep vivid blue and crossed with black tendrils of kelp, pulses with strange, active bioluminescent forms. Under UV light, the original painting reveals hidden layers—adding a glow that feels equal parts ethereal and mischievous."
